He is Cameron Curtis, a Commonwealth Games gold medallist and former coach of the Australian lawn bowls team. His visit is a massive win for the Annual Rose Tournament Triples competition, to be held this Thursday to Sunday, February 20 to 23, at the Goulburn Railway Bowling Club.
Goulburn Railway Women's Bowling Club publicity officer Chris Burns said the level of competition was always of a high calibre, but that this year's inclusion of the champion would make it even more interesting.
"The competition is always at a high level," Burns said. "We get state champions and state representatives who form teams. We're really excited to have Cameron come along with a team of his own."
Both the men's, who play the Thursday and Friday, and the women's, who play on the weekend, will have about 80 competitors taking part.
The presentations hosted by the Goulburn Railway Bowling Club and Goulburn Railway Women's Bowling Club will be at 3pm on Friday for the men and Sunday for the women, both being handed out by a representative from Gullen Range Windfarm and a Goulburn Mulwaree Council representative.
The winning team last year was from a composite of three Sydney clubs.
Burns encouraged the public to go and watch a high level of lawn bowls over the four days. "If you've considered playing bowls, or have seen it on TV, come down and have a look at how it's done," Burns said.
