"It was pretty terrifying, absolutely horrendous," she told The Post.
The area received 60mm in the three hours to about 7.30pm, according to her gauge.
The drenching felled trees along Highland Way, the main access into town from the Hume Highway, and gouged out deep holes on the side of the road. It also flooded the Barbers Creek viaduct before the village and police were called out to patrol traffic on Highland way, which was closed.
The RFS was also enlisted to help the council with fallen trees on the thoroughfare. Mrs Weston said the community had been complaining about the safety of these trees for some time.
A fallen tree also temporarily stopped a train on the main southern line, she said.
At Tallong Park residential estate, two large holes have appeared in internal roads.
"It was pretty manic. I've been through a lot of storms here but that was very gnarly," Mrs Weston said.
"The washdown and debris on the road was unbelievable and Barbers Creek (viaduct) desperately needs a clean out."
She has registered 330mm since this month's rain started. While it was a great relief to the community that fires were finally out, Saturday's downpour was a little too much for the area to handle, she said.
Marulan also received healthy falls, with 40mm falling in the township, 41mm at Brayton and 80mm at South Marulan on Saturday afternoon. Residents reported paddocks resembling lakes and trees down on Canyonleigh Road.
The council's operations director Matt O'Rourke said Saturday's damage would be included in an application for government Natural Distaster Assistance funding. After last week's heavy falls, he had estimated damage at over $500,000 but the weekend's rain would add to the bill. At Tarago, water was also over Bungendore Road, causing damage to the thoroughfare.
