The Crescent School Parents and Citizens Association received almost $175,000 as part of a NSW Government initiative to purchase a new bus.
P and C president Josh Proudman said the old bus was 14 years old and legally once a bus got to 15 years old it could no longer be used.
He said the bus was an integral part of the school and was also used during the day for community access and Riding for the Disabled transportation.
Mr Proudman said the new bus would be ready "hopefully within six months".
Member for Goulburn Wendy Tuckerman MP announced the $174,823 grant for the school on Monday, February 24.
The money is part of the NSW government's $886,930 investment in the region.
