Looking back at the 2020 Goulburn Show we were so very lucky to have held our event this year.

It's a bit surreal in the wake of the COVID-19 lockdown, as I look back at how busy our lives were up to and after the show, and then to have the hand brake pulled on us just like that.
Everything to do with shows closed down from attending other shows, meetings, awards, competitions, fundraising, preparing for next year's show and lots more.
Being someone that can't sit still and now with plenty of time on our hands, it was time to move onto a project that has been on my mind for a while, which is recording the memories and history of the Goulburn Show.
We already have a book that was written by Dorothy Brewer to celebrate the Centenary of Goulburn Shows back in 1991.
With so much more history from there and before still not recorded, this lockdown has given us time to do the research now.

So how we are going about this is by reading lots of history books and past records, interviewing past and present committee, members, volunteers, showgirls and anyone that has been involved (by phone, email or letter drop).
We started with a list of 20 people and the list is constantly growing each time we talk to someone else.
Notes are typed up and emailed back and forward until we have the correct story and the final part is the proof reading by several other people.
I would like to thank Lyn Brown and Heather West for taking this project on and running with it.
It gives me peace of mind and makes the job easier knowing they have the experience to do this as they have already done a project like this before.
They researched and wrote the book 'Memories of Goulburn' which was launched to co inside with Goulburn's 150th Birthday Celebrations back in 2013.
We are still looking for anyone that would like to put forward any story or information (photos, trophies or memorabilia) of their involvement with Goulburn Show.
In particular we are still chasing up past showgirls, so if you were one or you know a past showgirl get them to get in contact with us please.
- To contact us about Goulburn Show please phone Jacki 0428 298 157 or Lyn 0409 816 138.
