The Citizen's Climate Lobby (CCL), Hume chapter, are hosting a Zoom gathering where Dr Diesendorf will present a talk on using current technology to transition to a cleaner, more sustainable future.
Dr Diesendorf is known for his work in sustainable development and renewable energy, and currently teaches environmental studies at the University of NSW.
CCL co-leader Penny Steel said the group was in the business of providing information about sustainability and renewables, so were excited to have an expert of Dr Diesendorf's stature speaking at the event.

"It gives people the opportunity to hear from a top expert in the field," she said.
"Especially now that we've seen the difference that the reduced use of fossil fuels during lockdown - more insects and birds, cleaner air all over the world - a lot of people are thinking, 'It can be done'.
"If you have questions, this is the right person to ask.
"He will talk about how we can transition slowly without ending up with an economic downturn, like now."
Ms Steel said that during the coronavirus shutdowns, with many working from home, a lot of people had realised that existing technology is in place to support big changes.
"The technology is already there, we just need the impetus to make use of it," she said, adding that working from home is an example of a major shift in people's way of living.
"It would reduce pollution from transport and open up a better lifestyle," said Ms Steel.
"We have the renewable energy, energy efficiency and energy conservation technologies that are environmentally sound and affordable.
