This follows advice from Federal Minister for Water, Keith Pitt, that the Australian Government will not allocate additional funding to NSW for the scheme.
This scheme has aided Australian farmers to undertake significant drought preparedness and implement water efficiency improvements, and a number of local farmers have been affected by the cessation of the scheme.
It is a tiny investment for a worthwhile drought preparedness strategy for farmers that also has flow-on benefits to regional communities.
For every $1 from the Federal Government, the farmer puts in $3 for drought preparedness, and employs local contractors along the way.
NSW Farmers is appealing to the Federal Government to reverse a decision to stop funding for the Emergency Water Infrastructure Rebate Scheme (EWIR) and our local branch has joined in on that effort.

NSW Farmers continues to advocate strongly for farmers and regularly provides submissions on a diverse number of issues.
One of those relates to machinery purchase.
The broad range of commodities produced by our members means that a wide range of agricultural machinery is utilised in the course of production.
NSW Farmers are supportive of the ACCC's work considering purchaser rights and protections in the agricultural machinery after-sales market.
We support healthy competition in the agricultural machinery and after-sales market to provide farmers with a genuine choice both in purchasing machinery of any brand, and in choosing who can repair that machinery should any issues arise.
The ability to choose repairers is an important consideration as outlined in the ACCC discussion paper.
