The upcoming council meeting is set to deliberate upon the $5000 funding request from the theatre.
The financial assistance will be used to aid the many productions, workshops, and skill development programs that they have each year.
The theatre was forced to stall its programs scheduled for this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Despite the easing of restrictions, Lieder Theatre has decided not to reopen at this stage keeping safety as their utmost priority.
According to the state government's guidelines, the physical distancing rule of one person per four square meters needs to be implemented at the venue.
While the theatre has a seating capacity of 140 people, the foyer is not big enough to accommodate them while ensuring the physical distancing rule.
"The COVID-19 restrictions place programs and performances by the Lieder Theatre Company in jeopardy as all means of generating income has ceased. Many past and upcoming programs and performances have been cancelled," a council report states.
Meanwhile, the council is proposing a $4000 funding under Council's Financial Assistance Policy "given the level of funding provided to the Lieder Theatre Company in recent years and the likelihood that a number of other community groups will be in a similar position due to the COVID-19 pandemic."
