Officers said larger mailboxes around Windellama and Bungonia had been forced open by thieves to gain access to contents inside.
"With the increase of online purchases it is possible criminals are targeting rural areas for items of value," a police spokesman said.
"Anyone who is the victim of this type of crime is requested to report the incident to police."
People can do so by calling the Police Assistance Line (PAL) on 13 14 44 or by contacting Goulburn Police Station on 4824 0799. They will be issued a report number to help in determining the extent of the issue.
"Police strongly suggest having parcels etc delivered to your nearest post office for collection from that point," a spokesman said.
Further inquiries can be directed to crime prevention officer, Lou Raymond.
