Goulburn SES units have been called out to a further seven jobs this afternoon.
Local controller Daryl Skinner said these mainly involved fallen trees and sandbagging. Crews also helped move two horses in Hercules Street, Eastgrove, to higher ground and earlier, shifted 400 sheep at Breadalbane, 19km south of Goulburn.
There have been no further road closures.
While river levels are holding steady some lower level inundated areas are rising in Goulburn and district.
Goulburn has received about 100mm in the past 24 hours.
"There's still a lot of water to come down the Mulwaree and Wollondilly Rivers and that remains a concern," Mr Skinner said.
"We are keeping a very close eye on flood levels."
More rain was expected up until 6.30pm but the Bureau has forecast less than 1mm of rain for Monday.
SES Argyle local commander Robert Bell said all rivers were holding, except for the Shoalhaven, which stood at 9.21 metres at Oallen Ford Bridge.
Mr Bell, an SES veteran, told The Post it had been an extraordinary day, with a light dusting of snow reported at Crookwell on Sunday morning as well.
"At one point I was looking at a snow plan for Upper Lachlan and a flood plan for Goulburn," he said.
The RFS was also kept busy with the rain.
Southern Tablelands zone operational officer, Lachlan Gilchrist said crews were called to a half-submerged vehicle on the Federal Highway near Collector on Saturday night. Fortunately the occupants were able to escape by themselves.
They also attended a call-out to a submerged car at Middle Arm Road on Saturday night but again, the occupants escaped by themselves.
Crews have also assisted with door knocking and reconnaissance for flood affected areas.
Update 3.15pm Sunday
Rising water at the Shoalhaven River at Oallen Ford has almost covered the new bridge.
Windellama resident Michael Lees said the river was expected to peak tonight. The area has received over 180mm of rain. Windellama itself has recorded about 150mm.
The new Oallen Ford Bridge, completed five years ago, was designed to combat flooding that regularly inundated the old structure.
RFS Lake George zone advised at 2.45pm that a car had tried to drive through flood waters in the area and became stuck, "nearly sending two people downstream off Oallen Ford Road."
"Queanbeyan Palerang Council works crews have been requested to close Nerriga Road and Oallen Ford Road at the intersection of both roads," the post stated.
Meantime, Windellama Public School has been closed tomorrow due to flooding.
Update 1.45pm Sunday
The council reported at noon that Pejar Dam was 32cm above full storage level, while Pejar Dam was 46cm over its maximum level.
"Both are being monitored and there is no current cause for concern," a Facebook post stated.
The Traffic Management Centre has advised that All southbound lanes of the Federal Highway are closed between the Hume Hwy, Yarra and Canberra due to flooding.
"Motorists on the Hume Highway who want to travel to Canberra should use the Barton Highway instead and allow extra travel time," it stated.
Northbound lanes of the highway remain open. There is no forecast for when the southbound lanes will reopen.
This is the latest road update from the council:
- Wollogorang Creek Federal Highway flooded - have been informed one lane is closed to traffic going southbound, under traffic control.
- The Eastgrove underpass (Blackshaw Road) is closed.
- Range Road closed.
- Brisbane Grove Road closed.
- Brayton Road closed.
- Mt Baw Baw Road closed.
- Gurrundah Road closed - flooded in multiple spots.
- Chinamans Lane is closed.
- Highlands Way Tallong is closed
- Towrang Road closed, bridge is impassable.
- Painters Lane impassable (Braidwood Road end).
- Carrick Road also flooded.
- Pomeroy Road closed.
- Oallen Ford is also closed now - staff on the way to check levels and do this.
Marulan and Tarago Waste Management Centres are also closed for the day, to be reassessed Monday morning.
Meantime, Goulburn SES unit controller Daryl Skinner said Forbes Street, Park Road and Hercules Street at Eastgrove would also be closed.
The Mulwaree Ponds was still within its banks but water was rising around May Street. The new bridge there is under water.
At Marsden Weir just after noon, the spillway was barely visible as water came tumbling down the Wollondilly River. The area was filled with motorists taking a look, while others continued on to Pejar Dam. Police arrived at Marsden Weir to ensure people stayed back from the river.
Mr Skinner said some homes were isolated at Kingsdale, off the Crookwell Road, but residents were staying for now.
On Saturday night, the SES, police and the RFS were called to Middle Arm Road, near Back Arm Road, where a car was reported stuck in flood waters. Mr Skinner said the driver had removed themselves earlier and no-one was there when emergency services arrived.
The same occurred at Blackshaw Road, Goulburn on Saturday evening. A woman who had driven through the flooded underpass managed to free herself before the SES arrived.
Mr Skinner reiterated a warning for people not to drive through flooded areas.
The Wollondilly River at Victoria Street bridge had risen to 8.6mm by about 1pm.
Mr Skinner said although the Mulwaree River was also rising, it was still well contained.
There are no evacuation warnings to residents at this point.
The SES has attended to two sand-bagging requests.
In addition, a crew was preparing to deliver medication by boat to a Towrang resident isolated by floodwater. Earlier, they carried Goulburn Gold Club staff over the Mulwaree Ponds in a boat and helped them place items from the pro shop at a higher level.
The RFS is assisting SES units today.
SES Argyle local commander, Robert Bell said the flooding was unexpected.
"It was supposed to be on the south coast but it has come back over the top of us," he said.
He noted that the Wollondilly River at Murrays Flat was steady at six metres but would take a few days to recede. The river at Pomeroy Creek was falling.
The SES is closely monitoring river levels as rain continues this afternoon.
"We still have to get through a bit more with this storm cell," Mr Bell said.
Goulburn Airport had received a further 22mm today on top of 75mm recorded for the 24 hours to 9am Sunday.
Update Sunday 11am
Police say residents have been calling in to report cars that have been driving on closed roads.
People have been trying to get around the road closures and have driven down closed roads like Breadalbane Road to get to Collector.
A few parked cars have also been discovered in flood waters, but there have been no injuries.
There are a few police stationed at certain parts of the region, but no one has been located and arrested at this stage.
A spokesperson from NSW Police had a message to the public regarding the situation.
"If the road's closed, don't drive on it," the spokesperson said.
"If you come across flood waters, don't try to drive across it.
"Conditions may worsen if the rain starts again, so unless travel is essential, it would be best to give it a miss for today. "
Update Sunday 10.30am
Bungonia district grazier Bill Dobbie has received 115mm of rain on his property.
It comes on top of 29mm that fell in late July at his and wife Rose's holding, Lumley Park, on Oallen Ford Road.
The 115mm has been recorded since Friday and unlike the July rainfall, has generated strong runoff.
"All of our dams are overflowing. It's very good soaking rain and it's still going," Mr Dobbie said on Sunday morning.
"It will be an absolutely fantastic spring."
The Bungonia Facebook page is reporting heavy flooding on Lumley Road, while over at Windellama, Spa Road and Muffets Road at Jacqua Creek were also inundated. Flooding was also reported on Windellama Road at Hawkes Creek.
At Mr Dobbie's Laggan property, water was washing over the Golspie Road, cutting access.
Sunday 9am
A series of roads across Goulburn Mulwaree have been closed due to consistent over night rain.
Goulburn itself has received 75mm since 9am Saturday, according the Bureau of Meteorology. However the district is reporting falls of over 100mm.
The rain has flooded low-lying areas of Eastrove and the Wollondilly Riverbank on sections of the walking trail. Water is also tumbling over the spillway at Marsden Weir.
The council has announced:
- The Eastgrove underpass (Blackshaw Road) is closed
- Dips on Range Road are underwater in multiple places. People are urged not to drive through.
- Water over Mt Baw Baw Road.
- Schoolhouse Creek on Gurrundah Road, water over road.
- Chinamans Lane is closed
- Highlands Way Tallong is closed
- Towrang Road closed, bridge is impassable.
- Painters Lane impassable (Braidwood Road end).
Goulburn SES unit controller Daryl Skinner said at 8.30am that Brisbane Grove Road was also about to be closed. Crews were headed out to assess Towrang Road and he expected nearby Mills Road would be shut.
The Wollondilly River is sitting at eight metres around the Victoria Street bridge in Goulburn, while the Mulwaree Ponds around Blackshaw Road is standing at 1.2 metres.
"At the moment the main concern is what's been dropped upstream (of Goulburn) and what's coming towards us, which will impact in the next 12 hours," Mr Skinner said.
However he didn't expect Eastgrove water levels to rise markedly in the next few hours with an expected drop off in rain.
"We'll be keeping a very close eye on Eastgrove and will immediately inform people if it becomes a threat," Mr Skinner said.
Staff at the Goulburn Golf Club pro shop were this morning moving items above ground as a precaution.
Goulburn SES has four crews, comprising 13 people on deck today. A further seven are working in operations.

Crews attended about six storm call-outs overnight in Goulburn and within a 20km radius. These included water inundation, leaking roofs and fallen trees.
Personnel have also been preparing sandbags in case they are needed and planning ahead.
"I'm expecting a lot more rainfall today," Mr Skinner said.
"If water levels rise greatly we will activate the Local Emergency Management Committee and move on from there to flood warnings."
The Bureau is predicting 45 to 60mm of rain for Goulburn today, tapering off tomorrow to two to 6mm.
