The opening was delayed in mid-September due to the uncovering of materials containing asbestos during the demolition of the indoor pool.
Goulburn Mulwaree mayor Bob Kirk thanked the community for their patience during the clean-up of the site.
"I know many of our residents were looking forward to getting back in the outdoor pool and were disappointed by the delay, but I am pleased we were able to get this important phase of the clean-up completed safely," Cr Kirk said.
"The outdoor pool will now remain open throughout the summer as we move into the next phase of clean-up prior to the start of construction of the new facility."
Although it is great news the public will be allowed to use the facility again, there are rules in place due to COVID-19.
- All equipment in the centre will be cleaned between classes to ensure adequate cleaning from the previous class.
- A hand sanitising station will be available and all students must use it before their lesson.
- All students and members must sign in at reception.
- Parents can attend to watch lessons, but are asked to limit the number to one per child.
- Teachers will use minimal contact where possible and have undertaken infection control training.
- Temperatures will be taken of everyone entering the facility.
- Bathroom usage is limited to one person at a time.
Chairs and benches have been moved to follow social distancing rules and students are advised to arrive swim ready and to return home to shower.
Patrons are reminded not to attend the venue if they are feeling unwell or have come in contact with a positive COVID-19 case in the past 14 days.
Patrons also have to follow social distancing markers around the venue and to keep a distance of 1.5m from one another.
The Learn to Swim program will resume from Monday, October 26 while aqua aerobics, which runs five times a week, will also be back.
Aqua aerobics runs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9am to 9.45am, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12.30pm to 1.15pm and Mondays and Wednesdays from 5.45pm to 6.30pm.
