The week celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and is a great opportunity to participate in a range of activities and to support local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Australia's identity as an ancient land occupied by the oldest cultures on earth is the focus of this year.
Goulburn Multicultural Centre manager Heni Hardi held a surprise event for the Goulburn Goannas, a team from NSW Aboriginal Health and their health team leader Rick Shipp said the act reflected the strong relationship between the two organisations.
"The Goulburn Goannas team and I have enjoyed working with Heni over the years," Mr Shipp said.
"The surprise NAIDOC celebration for the Goulburn Goannas team this week topped off our valued partnership with Heni and the multicultural centre."
Also in attendance was Mission Australia's SE NSW and ACT area manager Daniel Strickland who was glad to be a part of it.
"I was honoured to join with my friends from Aboriginal Health and the Multicultural Centre for their special NAIDOC edition of Zumba this week," Mr Strickland said.
"Sadly, COVID-19 restrictions put the brakes on celebrations and I commend Heni on being creative and decorating the centre in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander colours.
"I am proud of our great relationships with our Aboriginal and multicultural community and to see both come together to celebrate is truly working towards closing the gap."
