Goulburn Mulwaree mayor Bob Kirk said it was great to be able to have a social and family event like this in these tough times.
"Council didn't want the community to miss out on one of the region's favourite events due to COVID restrictions, so our marketing and events team have worked really hard to reformat Pictures and Popcorn to be a COVID-safe event," Cr Kirk said.
"This will be the only Pictures and Popcorn event for this financial year so we really want to make it a special one.
"We have hired a pop up Outdoor LED Screen which allows us to start the event earlier and fit in two movies each night."
Council's events officer Angela Remington said many of the favourite features of the event would return although there would be some omissions too.
"Unfortunately we will have to forgo a few of our regular activities such as the Kids Zone," Ms Remington said.
"However many of the favourites will return, including a live DJ, pizza on Friday night, a BBQ on Saturday night, as well as choc tops, coffee and the all-important Candy Bar.
"These will all be managed appropriately under our COVID-safety plan."
Due to extra costs in running the event, there will be a fee this time.
Tickets are $30 per car and must be paid prior to the event by visiting https://www.eventbrite.com/e/pictures-and-popcorn-drive-in-movie-tickets-124497454237
