Eight months of restricted access to sporting events has seen a record signup to the weekly event with a large number of new recruits coupled with some returning athletes participating.
Tuesday's round two saw 51 starters across all fields and included new members Cody Poestch, Kate Reid, Jess Kennedy and James Charlesworth not to mention the Feld kids including Annabel, James and Riley.
There was also a raft of athletes who have returned to the fray after some time out, these include Rod Smith, Elaine Pugh, Neil Kennedy and the Rose family Carol, Allison and Mikaela (McGrath).
The novice race (100m/2km) and the long distance event (600m/6km) were first to start, followed by the Open 1 sprint race (200m/4k) and the Open 2 Intermediate (400m/4km) in handicapped stages.
After emerging from the pool, the competitors were dispersed around the 2km loop of Victoria Park however the handicap system ensured that the gaps were closing over the course of the run , making for tight finishes in all races.
