"I would like to make changes to have more activities offered including Judo and indoor sports," she said.
"Not all kids are sporty. If we could run a chess or games afternoon that would be great."
So far, the most rewarding part of the job has been the "happy smiley faces" of the children involved with the PCYC.
Ms Lawson said the club was a "safe place for the community".
She said members ranged from as young as two years old to retired people who used the gym.
"The PCYC is part of the community, a place where people belong," she said.
"We are a charity, most people don't realise that
"Not only do we run archery, boxing and gymnastics but we also have programs for kids who need assistance to get back-on-track."
The Goulburn born-and-bred woman worked at TAFE for more than 30 years before moving to Southern Youth and Family Services.
Ms Lawson said her new position combined her passion for education and working with young people.
"We have a mission to look after the less fortunate," she said.
"We are an all inclusive club, we wouldn't turn anyone away."
