The council has contracted Denrith Pty Ltd to complete the 1,297-metre section between Lower Sterne Street and the Mortis Street cemetery at North Goulburn. Councillors at their recent meeting chose the company from a field of 11 tenderers to undertake the work for $352,177.
The 2.5 metre wide path will link the existing path around the Goulburn Golf Club's western perimeter to the Riverwalk's northern extent, near the Correctional Centre.

A spokesman said it involved acquisition of 250 square metres of land.
A total $500,000 was allocated to the stage, with the remaining $147,823 to be spent on survey, land acquisition, fencing and kerb and gutter work in Cemetery Street.
A report to the council stated that the path would finish next to the Mortis Street cemetery off Maud Street and serve as the connection point to the next section which would link from Cemetery Street to the Joseph's Gate residential subdivision on Taralga Road.
The Lower Sterne Street to cemetery work will take the Wollondilly Riverwalk to just under 12km.
Mayor Bob Kirk said it was more appropriate to call this section the Mulwaree Riverwalk, given it ran beside that waterway.
Almost 300 walkers and about 70 cyclists use the track daily, according to council data.
It also includes a northern connection from Marys Mount that can be accessed via footbridges at Fitzroy Bridge near Marsden Weir and Gibson Street.
The council has secured substantial state and federal government funding for the Riverwalk but has also committed its own funds.
Cr Andrew Banfield declared a pecuniary interest in the latest decision and left the room during discussion. He is employed by the Denrith group of companies and his brother-in-law, Andy Divall, is a director.
Denrith has completed other sections of the walkway. A staff report stated that the company's latest bid represented the best value for money.
