Senior Constable Belinda McDonald and Senior Constable Amanda Collins, along with other officers, manned an information desk at Goulburn Square and handed out the ACCC's Little Black Book of Scams throughout the day.

Senior Constable McDonald said she had seen an increase in scams across the region.

"Scams are becoming more sophisticated and convincing. If in doubt ring the police," she said.

"If it sounds too good to be true, it is probably a scam.

"Be suspicious of any online or telephone communications asking for payment, and don't give any personal details."
