The Goulburn resident has a keen interest in visual arts, particularly painting, drawing and sculpture and likes to explore different shapes, lines and symbols in her artworks, influenced by her interest in traditional Aboriginal symbols.
"I have always been passionate about teaching kids about art and Aboriginal culture because it's a part of their country and heritage as well," she said.
"I have conducted several arts and culture workshops in preschools, primary schools, high schools and with community groups, with this focus."
Mrs Bridge is the winner of the 2021 Veolia Creative Arts Scholarship and has been awarded $3000 funds. She will use it to purchase art supplies and build on her art collection for an exhibition that will take place at Bigga Art Gallery in August 2021.
"My artwork focuses on my connection with the country and the manner in which people express different emotions. It's about how they feel about life and death and I try to express that through my art," she said.
"I will be exhibiting my work of up to fifteen or more, small to medium-sized contemporary Aboriginal paintings in the upcoming exhibition. It will be acrylic on canvas with some mixed media pieces and most of these will be reflecting my connection with country and love for our native animals and insects.
"The aim of the exhibition is to celebrate Aboriginal culture and art, increase publicity of my work and sell the artworks."
The 2021 Veolia Creative Arts Scholarships aims to further the arts practice of artists over the next 12 months.
Artists in any discipline across the region can consider applying for the scholarship in 2022. The Veolia Creative Arts Scholarship program will be accepting applications early next year with dates and further information available at https://www.veolia.com or call on (02) 48222786.
