On Wednesday, June 9, the Goulburn Chamber of Commerce will be hosting an event with NBN Co to discuss an opportunity for local businesses to access high grade direct ethernet internet connections.
NBN recently announced Goulburn as one of 85 business fibre zones (BFZ) across regional Australia.
Within these zones, NBN's highest grade broadband fibre (Enterprise Ethernet) can be installed directly to business premises at a $0 build cost in most circumstances.
BFZs improve the availability of broadband fibre builds by flattening traditional pricing structures that typically favoured capital city centres.
Businesses that install Enterprise Ethernet will have a symmetrical, dedicated fibre conduit to their premises and will not compete with bandwidth around them (so they won't experience reduced speed due to high volumes of other users on the network).
Steven Bowman, NBN's local business lead, will be addressing the chamber's June meeting to explain how local businesses can take advantage of this game changing opportunity.
Mr Bowman is also keen to hear from local businesses about their current experience with NBN and their internet connection.
"More and more businesses are using digital applications to deliver their products/services and run their businesses," said chamber president Darrell Weekes.
"Video conferencing, streaming, working in the 'cloud'...these are all becoming increasingly more common methods for businesses in how they operate.
"Having access to reliable and fast internet is really crucial to being able to use these digital applications effectively.
"The chamber is pleased to see NBN committing to boosting internet connection for regional businesses, and we are keen to spread the word about this opportunity across the Goulburn business community".
The event will be held at The Collective from 7.30am on Wednesday, June 9 and is open to both chamber members and non-members. In person attendance is limited to 40 people.
It will also be streamed live for those who cannot attend in person.
Registrations (in person and virtual) are essential and links can be found on the chamber's website and Facebook page.
