The day was very cool and the sky was clear, although it did not take long for the clouds to come over. The breeze was also very tricky, picking up as the day went on, but there were times that the flags were still enough to get the shot off.
The third Sunday of every month is the club championship shoot. These shoots accrue points for those that shoot the best score. These competition shoots occur on the third Sunday of every month from February to November, with the Club Championship being held on the first Sunday in December.
Seven shooters participated on Sunday. Scores for the competitors were:
- Chris Gaul - shooting bench rest, scoring 200 with 13 centrals
- Ivan Wilson - shooting bench rest, scoring 200 with 10 centrals
- Kylie Watts - shooting bench rest, scoring 198 with 14 centrals
- Rob Eager - shooting bench rest, scoring 198 with 8 centrals
- David Wright - shooting Prone, scoring 198 with 8 centrals
- Charlie Watts - shooting bench rest, scoring 197 with 10 centrals
- Tony Weston - shooting bench rest, scoring 197 with 10 centrals
This was some excellent shooting, and excellent scores. The best score that can be shot is 200 with 20 centrals.
On the weekend of June 12 and 13, the club also had five members travel to the International Shooting Centre (SISC) in Sydney for the NSW Endure Competition. All five members shot well and earned places.
- David Wright - shooting prone was first in A grade and second overall in prone.
- Rob Eager - shooting bench rest was first in A grade and first overall, making him the 2021 NSW Enduro Bench rest Champion.
- Kylie Watts - shooting bench rest was first in C grade and third overall.
- Charlie Watts - shooting bench rest was second in C grade.
Jan and Brian Mitchell also participated in the SSAA NSW Group and IRB State Championships near Newcastle on the same weekend. There were many events held over the weekend with Jan and Brian coming either first, second or third in each event.
These results also place Jan in seventh position in the Australian Rimfire Shooter of the Year standings.
2020 was a year where changes needed to be made, but the club implemented a COVID plan which kept all members safe. Now in 2021 as COVID restrictions have now been eased even further, the club is now able to have visitors to the range and can have more people in the clubhouse.
