That's why the youth of Goulburn, aged between 15 to 19, have the chance to voice their concerns thanks to the annual youth survey conducted by Mission Australia.
For the very first time, the town will be able to receive its own customised report should more than 100 locals participate in the survey.
Mission Australia's regional leader for Southern NSW and ACT Brett Fahey said a lot can be learnt from the results of the survey.
"Last year showed us that young Australians care deeply about a range of different issues," Mr Fahey said.
"They care about equity, discrimination and unfair treatment, they care about the pandemic's various impacts including on education and employment, and they know that mental health is a top national issue.
"For the first time, young people told us that equity and discrimination was the top national issue, rising from third place in 2019 to the top spot last year.
"The results also provide a resource for families and individuals to develop a picture of what our young people are thinking and experiencing.
"It can guide us on how to best support young people in our region and across Australia as they transition into adulthood."
For those who would like to have their say, time is running out as the survey closes on August 9.
The estimated time of completion is 20 minutes and results are expected to be released in early December.
The questions on the survey focus on the youth's study and work, values, personal concerns, activities and national concerns.
There are also questions about how they are coping with COVID-19 and their sources of support.
