Local farmers are pleased to see the drought-proofing water infrastructure rebate reopening with the second round of the Commonwealth Emergency Water Infrastructure Scheme, after strong lobbying from NSW Farmers.
Under the scheme, farmers can claim 25 per cent up to $25,000 of the cost of drought-proofing their farms.
NSW Farmers President, James Jackson, has also welcomed the NSW Government announcement that the Pacific Labour Scheme Seasonal Worker Quarantine Program subsidy has been extended into the 2022 financial year.
Ongoing border restrictions continue to result in an acute labour shortage. This continued subsidy will assist the grain and horticultural industries and the meat processing sector.
Due to the recent COVID outbreak and Sydney lockdown, the NSW Farmers Annual Conference planned for July has been postponed until the end of August and relocated to Dubbo.
Locally we have so far been fortunate not to have been as badly impacted by COVID as many others.
However, many local families have had school holiday family visits and other holiday activities cancelled and local businesses have been impacted by lack of travellers who normally would have visited our area during this time.
On the safety front, the NSW Quad Bike Safety Rebate and free training program is still on offer and an additional $3.7 million in funding will extend the program until June 2023.
Up to $2000 can be claimed in safety rebates including $600 for each rollbar. Rebates for helmets, drones and side by side vehicles are available too.
