There was little time for Goulburn High School students to stop and smell the roses when they recently undertook the task of relocating roses at Goulburn Base Hospital.

Students from the High Aspirations Program (HAP) were able to develop their interest in landscaping as they assisted the Goulburn Rose Committee and members of NSW Health Infrastructure to relocate roses from the maternity side of the hospital to the new garden bed at the front of the hospital.
The students worked hard during the day and all the roses were relocated within a few hours.
It was also a particularly significant event for the school, as the rose dedicated to former student Adele Smith who passed away when she was a senior student at Goulburn High was relocated to her family home.
Her parents were present for the rose garden relocation and visited the school later in the day to shine the plaque placed there in her memory.
HAP coordinator Kara Stephenson said it had been a great opportunity for students to explore their interests in a practical capacity.
"Students benefited significantly from spending time with landscape architects and gardening experts," she said.
"More students from the HAP program who have expressed an interest in landscaping will have the opportunity to assist with the relocated rose garden again later in the year."
Goulburn High School principal Yogesh Mani thanked the students for their respect of the occasion and congratulated them on their hard work.
"It was a great opportunity for our students to not only explore their interests but to become more involved in our community," he said.
"We're grateful to the Goulburn Rose Committee and NSW Health Infrastructure for allowing our students to be part of this experience. Through our HAP program, we have been able to show our students potential career opportunities they can pursue when they finish school and allow them to follow their interests and passions."
