Goulburn Fire Station captain Darrell Law said a hole in the tank of the truck caused the 50L to 100L spill on Thursday, August 12.
"We cleaned it up with absorbent and picked it up with shovels," Mr Law said.
Crews quickly contained the diesel from the leak and commenced recovering the spilt diesel.
After about an hour and a half, the service station reopened and a heavy recovery vehicle removed the truck for repair.
Taralga RFS captain John Sullivan said he received a call about some diesel that had also spilled north of Taralga on Taralga Road near the Abercrombie River.
However, his crew didn't have the equipment to deal with it, so Goulburn Mulwaree Council was called to help.
