The NSW Youth Council Conference is postponed.
Scheduled for Friday, September 17, Goulburn Mulwaree Council councillor Carol James said COVID restrictions made it impossible for the event to go ahead.
"Kids aren't able to come in and out of town and because of the COVID lockdown, so we decided to hold it in February of next year," Cr James said.
"We're thinking of running it at the same time as Vibesfest now.
"It's very disappointing.
"Some of our speakers aren't local too and our major speakers come out of town.
"One was from Victoria and another was from the Northern Territory.
"It would have been difficult to not postpone it in that regard."
At this stage, the conference is expected to run in the same format but Cr James is still disappointed with the postponement.
"It would be great if we can get the same speakers," she said.
"It's sad because some of our kids are locked down in universities and just can't get to us.
"We're very disappointed because they have put a lot of effort to get to this point with regards to planning."
Expression of interests will be put out in January to see which participants and how many will be coming.
"Ideally, we would have about 100 to 150 people attending," she said.
"Otherwise, there wouldn't be a point for anyone to come if we don't have the numbers."
