The Trinity Catholic College student has been raising funds for the Fred Hollows Foundation, an idea inspired by her grandparents.
"I decided to start raising funds for the foundation because the cause is close to my heart," Erin said.
"Two of my grandparents have issues with their sight.
"My grandmother is legally blind in one eye, while my grandfather has had multiple surgeries so that he didn't go blind.
"I did it in support of them."
Being visually impaired comes with its difficulties and for Erin's grandparents, it mainly affects their ability to drive.
"My grandmother is no longer able to drive due to her blindness in one eye while my grandfather doesn't really like to drive at night too much as he finds it challenging."
Heading into the fundraiser, she had a goal of raising $350, but she has already raised over $750.
To go with her fundraiser, Erin also ran 50km in August.
Professor Fred Hollows' dream was to live in a world where no one was needlessly blind.
The foundation has helped restore sight to over 2.5 million people in Australia, managing to keep the cost of cataract eye operations to as little as $25 per person.
Erin is one of many Goulburnians who have raised funds for the foundation.
A couple of years ago, the Goulburn community raised $58,000 and founding director of the Fred Hollows Foundation Gabi Hollows said it helped out many people including a family in Laos.
"Without the support of people from Goulburn, the foundation couldn't have helped so many people," Ms Hollows said.
"They help us transform the lives of those living with avoidable blindness."
