Goulburn Men's Shed do a lot of good for the community

We may be coming to the end of Men's Shed Week, but the work they do will always have a positive impact on the community. The week aims to showcase just that.

Since the early '90s, sheds have played an important role in providing men with a place to go, a community to belong to and mates that make it all worthwhile.

The Goulburn Men's Shed and men's sheds in the Southern Highlands are currently in lockdown, but their sense of connection, community and camaraderie is still as strong as it's ever been.

Normally, the men's sheds hold an open day during this week, but Australian Men's Shed Association chairman Paul Sladdin says lockdown makes that impossible to happen.

"The pandemic has certainly got in the way of shedders getting together in person as much as they'd like to over the last eighteen months," Mr Sladdin said.

"But like us, sheds have found ways to stay in touch and to support their mates by other means and that's what we're celebrating this year."
