Goulburn Mulwaree Council coordinator for marketing and events Jessica Price said tourist numbers through the Visitor Information Centre had "been increasing steadily" since they reopened on weekdays from October 11.
"We do expect [tourists from Greater Sydney] to increase over the next couple of weeks, and on weekends in particular," she said.
As a result, the Visitor's Information Centre will reopen on weekends from November 13.
For Ms Price, this was great news for the Goulburn economy.
"Local businesses will benefit from increased patronage and an injection of 'new money' into the local visitor economy thanks to people starting to travel again from Greater Sydney and other regional NSW destinations," she said.
"Goulburn is often considered to be a transit destination, so with more and more people getting on the road again to visit friends and family, Goulburn is the ideal place to break the journey and experience the best of what country NSW has to offer."
To protect the community the Visitor Information Centre has a COVID-19 safe plan in place. This includes a strict cleaning and sanitising regime, all customers must be double-vaccinated and wear masks, and adherence to venue capacity limits.
