The fourth round of the summer season was a criterium event at Wakefield Park.
There may have been dark overcast skies and the threat of a downpour, but officials ruled that the track was safe for racing. A small bunch of riders turned out hoping the inclement weather would stay away long enough to complete the race.
Riders were strung out across the course early as the stronger competitors managed to open up a gap to the lower graded riders. With some damp corners on the course, riders were tentative early to avoid any accidents but speeds increased as the race wore on and riders gained more confidence.
B Grade riders were showing some form with little separating them for most of the race and mixing it with the sole A Grader, Cameron Roberts.
Further back in the field, Mark Stutchbury and Chris Berry were having a ding dong battle swapping off turns every half lap while Peter Lucas and Peter Jackson were cruising at the back of the field.
At the finish line Jordan Rowlands took line honours from Wayne Bensley and James Quade.
