Amber Richards has started a Gofundme to raise money in order to buy a disability vehicle for her husband Joshua, who has been unable to walk for a couple of years.
The couple have been living in Goulburn for three years and moved in order to more easily access specialist medical services, something that would be helped by having a suitable vehicle.
Amber, who works part-time at Woolworths and is a full-time carer for Joshua, said being able to get out and about would make the world of difference.
"There's only two taxi services in Goulburn and usually they are booked out weeks in advance," she explained.
"If you have a doctor's appointment or if he wants to go out to a national park for a day the taxi isn't available.
"It basically just means freedom, especially for him. We live in a unit and it's hard to get out. Just having a vehicle to transport him would be amazing."
The fundraising target is $35,000 and Amber said she hoped to get it modified in future to allow Joshua to drive himself around.
'If we got it modified he might be able to drive which he would really like.," she said.
"Another reason to get the vehicle is so we can go to specialist appointments in Sydney, Bowral and Canberra.
"Everyone I've spoken to has been very supportive."
