The proposed site is being put forward by Holcim, owners of Lynwood Quarry in Marulan which is under construction.
A development application for the centre is currently before Goulburn Mulwaree Council with extensive assessments carried out.
As well as being an educational facility, it is expected the Aboriginal objects recovered during archeological salvage of the Lynwood site will be placed on display in the centre.
Noted in the Aboriginal Heritage Due Diligence Assessment carried out is that Marulan served as a junction of four major tribes (Ngunawal, Wandandian, Wodi Wodi and Gandangara).
Mr Humphreys said it was pleasing to see some acknowledgement of traditional owners early in development of the quarry.
"Holcim since day one have always been respectful of First Nations people and fenced off sensitive areas on their properties and have worked closely with the local Land Council," he told the Post.
"So I think it's really just an extension of that to display an education centre looking at the heritage of First Nations people in the area."
Mr Humphreys, who is part of the Lynwood Community Consultative Committee, said the centre would hopefully draw more visitors from its site on the Hume Highway.
"I think it will be a fillip for the tourist industry and hopefully there's some spinoff for Marulan as well," he explained.
"They are talking about doing some school visits from out of town and if f people spend a couple of hours in the centre and want to have a cup of coffee afterwards they will be directed into Marulan."
