More than 50 people joined Ms Cush in viewing Mr Penalver's drawings.
Many in attendance knew Mr Penalver from his days as a local school teacher, his passionate advocacy for the recognition of Goulburn's built heritage, or his participation in Book Club and other U3A programmes. Few had seen his drawings.
His artwork drew comments about the range of subject matter Mr Penalver included in his portfolio, his skill at accurately representing 3D, and his mastery of detail.
The exhibition offers an alternative experience for family or friends visiting Goulburn over the Easter long weekend.
The framed drawings are on exhibition at The Goulburn Club on Thursday and Friday from 5pm until late, and Sunday afternoon from 1pm to 5pm over the next two weekends.
All the auction lots will be on view on Sunday April 24 from 9am to 12pm, and only a few have reserve prices.
Pre-registration is required before the start of the auction at 2pm on April 24. Arrangements can be made through auctioneer Carol James to bid at auction via telephone.
All money raised at the auction will be added to The Goulburn Club Lift Project account.
