The truck fire was near Mereworth Road on Thursday (January 18), where two northbound lanes were initially shut, but one has since been reopened.
Rural Fire Service Brigades from Berrima , Alpine/Aylmerton, Moss Vale and Mittagong, along with Fire and Rescue crews from Moss Vale, Bowral, Mittagong and police, were on the scene.
Alpine/Aylmerton RFS captain Mark Cupitt said parts of the truck were partially and "completely destroyed" and crews were there for "several hours" to stop the fire from spreading along the vehicle and ensuring the area was safe.
A Transport Management Centre spokesperson said that crews were going to inspect the closed lanes to see the extent of damages.
Motorists are advised to reduce their speeds, prepare to merge and travel carefully.
The lane is expected to remain this way until the surface is inspected.
A media spokesperson from Ambulance NSW said that nobody needed to be transferred from the scene.
