Geissler Motors director Ross Granata said the delay had been caused by commitments he had given to others in the local motor trade as well as the global downturn.
"We lodged the development application with Goulburn Mulwaree Council six months ago, but this coincided with Greg Reardon's illness," Mr Granata said.
Mr Granata, along with Chris and Peter Mowle, are co-owners of the Southern Ford complex in Hume St. Mr Reardon was their tenant at the time.
"We gave Greg a commitment that if he wanted to surrender the lease of his Ford business we were happy to move Geisslers onto that site because he still had four years to go on the lease," he said.
The Finlay Road site was on hold until Mr Reardon reached an agreement with John McGrath to take over the Ford business in May this year.
