FORMER Sydney Roosters hooker James Aubusson has agreed to coach the Goulburn Workers Bulldogs first grade rugby league team for the next three seasons.

Aubusson who came off contract with the Roosters at the end of the 2010 season told the gathering at the Bulldog’s presentation night last Friday that he and fiancé Tahlia Davies were looking forward to establishing themselves in Goulburn.
“I am looking forward to getting out of the city and setting up home here, buying a lawnmower and eventually starting a family,” Aubusson said.
“I had several options, which I discussed with Tahlia and I am happy with our decision.
“Everything has fallen into place for us. I have been coming to Goulburn for the past two years and really like the place. We are getting married early next year and want to settle down.
“This is a move that suits us both and for me is a step forward in my career too.”
Aubusson said he had several other rugby league options including possible contracts overseas or with the Titans or North Queensland however he was looking beyond his league career.
“I am really keen on real estate and spent quite a bit of time in the office of one of my sponsors, Laing and Simmons of Bondi Beach,” he said.
“I have been talking to some local real estate people about a career in real estate here.”
Bulldogs committee member Dale Godber had approached Aubusson about the possibility of him moving to Goulburn as captaincoach of the Workers Bulldogs after Kieran Davies had told the club about his future son-in- law’s desire to get out of the Sydney rat race.
Godber said that Goulburn was looking to rebuild its Canberra Raiders Cup team following the announced retirement of several players at the end of the season and Aubusson was just the person who could attract the players and sponsors they needed.
“James will, besides being captain-coach of the first grade team, have input into the reserves, under 18s, 16s and 15s,” Godber said.
“He will also be assisting us with lifting the profile of rugby league and in attracting new sponsors.”
