They set up cameras in local business Beauty Secrets to film a scene of an episode in their second series.
They also shot footage at Crookwell district property ‘Gundowringa’ owned by the Prell family.
The show is about ‘Tara’, played by Xenia Goodwin, who starts out as a country girl from the fictional town of
Patchewalling who has big dreams of becoming a dancer. Her dreams come true when she is accepted into the National Academy of Dance.
“Tara was originally from a farm and I did a search all around Southern NSW and we settled on a farm called Gundowringa,” Gabrielle Sinclair, the location manager said.
In the second series Tara comes back to her family home over her summer break.
“We were so delighted to return to Goulburn to film these scenes as it’s such an important part of Tara’s character.
“Her country roots give her real strength and tenacity, which she draws on during her challenges at the Academy.
“Gundowringa is also a gorgeous property - total wish fulfilment for any girl who dreams of growing up riding quad bikes and horses,” Ms Sinclair said.
She explained that due to the travelling, a city scene of the show was being shot in Beauty Secrets.
“This is supposed to be an urban shop in Sydney but because of the logistics it made sense for us to film this in
Goulburn as well,” she said.
“The locals have been very supportive.”
Dance Academy has just started filming the second series and it is expected to air in 2012 on ABC1 and ABC3.
