Keith served as an alderman and councillor on Goulburn City Council for 26 years, from 1977 to 2004. In that time he served as mayor from 1982 to 1985 and deputy mayor from 1981-1982. The flags at the Civic Centre flew at half mast yesterday in his honour.
A former teacher and principal of Goulburn Public School, Keith will be remembered as an intelligent and exceptionally witty man with a cheeky sense of humour and a commitment to helping others. He was an active participant in Goulburn organisations across fields as diverse as musical theatre, sport, service clubs and community advocacy.
In his younger years he was also a keen and active sportsman, playing for a number of sporting groups including the Taralga Tigers rugby league side.
There will be a public memorial organised for Keith following a private cremation. Further stories, including tributes and memories from family, friends and colleagues, will appear in tomorrow’s Goulburn Post.
We invite all of those who knew Keith to leave tributes to him here.
