The website - igoulburn.com - has been undergoing a comprehensive testing period since July 27.
It will be officially launched along with the new Visitor Guide at a tourism industry ‘meet and greet’ tonight.
Strategic Marketing Team Leader at the Visitor Information Centre, Jessica Aliffi told the Post that the website and guide have a number of great new features.
She and Destination Information Officer Connie Styles worked on the project together.
“The site had not been revamped since 2008, so we thought it was time to freshen things up a bit,” she said.
“The previous site had a strong heritage theme throughout, and whilst we will continue to highlight Goulburn’s rich heritage, we wanted the new look and feel to portray that Goulburn is a thriving, innovative city by giving it a more contemporary feel.”
Some of the features of the new Visitor Guide include: * A more contemporary look and feel to align with other campaign work * Printed on matte stock * This is a special 150th birthday issue. It features an amazing three-tier topsyturvy birthday cake which was generously donated by Chris Griffin- owner of Cake Wizard, a small, local, homebased business; * A dedicated page for information about Goulburn’s 150th Birthday celebrations in March 2013; * New sections include an Annual Events Calendar and a Towns and Villages section; * New features include some new local tourism experiences, an updated city map with new streets and developments added and an enlarged regional map; and * People are encouraged to grab themselves a copy (handy for when friends and relatives come to visit) from the Visitor Information Centre.
Stand out improvements of the new website include: * A more contemporary look and feel to align with the centre’s other campaign work; * Ability for users to submit business and event listings through an online form; * Featured events and attractions on the homepage; * A new section for ‘Deals and Packages’ (content for this yet to be added); and * Ability to view events by calendar dates as well as in list view.
The official launch will start tonight from 5:30pm- 7pm at the Goulburn Visitor Information Centre. Light refreshments will be served and will accompany some local and regional wine tasting.
