Last Monday the Titans were too strong for the gallant Rabbitohs in a grand final qualifier.
I would to thank the Rabbits team of Michael Turner, Josh Rumble and Megan Bishop for their contribution to this competition.
The Bulldogs, who set the competition pace from the start, wound up overall winners after beating the Titans in a tense grand final.
The Triple Js, namely John Lees, James Turner and Jordan Lees, played wonderful table tennis.
Their victory is thoroughly deserved. John and James both won two games in the grand final.
The Titans team of TK Fun, Raj Sarin and Peter Bywaters never stop trying. All these players won a game each in the grand final. I would like to thank both these teams for their wonderful efforts in this competition.
The Gunners’ road to the title was rocky. They got over the line against the Tigers on Monday.
Man of the final series, Angus O’Rourke, won all of his games.
Don Anable also won two. This scribe won two games for the Tigers while Diana Lees and Tony McWhirter won one each.
I would like to thank my team for a great competition. It was an honour to be their captain. Tony always gives his all. Diana and Angus are the two big improvers this competition.
So the scene was set for a great grand final. It lived up to expectation.
It was 5 all and the decider was between Murray Quigg and Angus O’Rourke. Both of these players were very consistent all competition.
In the end Angus won a thriller and the Gunners’ celebrations began. The gunners team of Don Anable, Angus O’Rourke, Wally Buckland and Maddy Turner started the competition off slowly but came good at the right end of the season.
Angus once again won all of his games while Don won two. Angus is quite talented. He has a big future in the sport.
The Sharks never gave up with Murray Quigg winning two games and Dave Plumb and the promising Cooper Layden one each.
To these two teams, I loved watching the grand final and thank you for your efforts this competition.
Players: don’t forget those raffle tickets. You don’t want the treasurer chasing you (it’s a scary sight!).
We are having a little break now. Practice is still continuing, however.
There’s nothing like fine tuning those skills for the new competition.
Practice is on Fridays from 7pm in our Bradfordville hall on the corners of Queen and Dalley Streets.
New players are very welcome.
If you have any queries regarding this sport, please ring Bruce on 0408 846 786.
Finally, thank you to everyone for a wonderful competition. I can’t wait for the next one. Take care and drive safely.
