“We’ve got half a new squad. We’ve started to really gel together.”
The opening half saw a greater possession by ANU, pushing hard against the Strikers defense. Ellen Ryan scored the first goal off Amy Hayward putting the game in a tie.
Going into the second half ANU’s fitness proved to be beneficial leading by two but a goal by Danielle White appeared to momentarily level the playing field.
Despite the blast of momentum the lack of subs for the Strikers team resulted in exhausted players and the failure to carry through key passes.
Overall, the the lack of player rotation for the Strikers led to an advantage for ANU who were successfully shooting for goal in the final minutes ending the match at 4-2.
Dally said a few of the players were still recovering from injuries or were in the process of improving their fitness following the Easter break and looks forward to the remainder of the season.
“It’s a great improvement, in a few weeks we’ll settle back in and be putting some goals away,” he said.
