Swimmers representing the following teams attended: Tuggeranong Vikings, Goulburn, Kiama, Ginninderra, Wollongong, Oak Flats, Wagga Wagga, Griffith, Wests Illawarra, Young, Canberra, Tumut, Woden Valley, Albion Park, QT Swimming, Bomaderry, Werris Creek, Cruiz Eden, Junee, Narooma, Revesby Workers, Bay & Basin, Cooma, Glenbrook, Port Macquarie, Queanbeyan Leagues, Tumbarumba, Ulladulla, Wagga Asthma, West Wallsend Indoor, Woy Woy and Yass.
Despite the freak storm on Saturday afternoon that created havoc with the pool and carnival setup we managed to get cleaned up ready for the second day of swimming and saved most of our gazebos.
Goulburn Mulwaree Council hosted the event with assistance from Goulburn Amateur Swim Club parents, volunteering for timekeeping, announcing, catering for officials and coaches, running our club barbecue and selling the meets merchandise. Jim's Bean machine was a much welcomed addition supplying the officials and parents of competitors with some delicious beverages and treats.
The Visitor Information Centre staff and van attended to advise our Goulburn guests on the best places to see while here.
These swimmers represented the Goulburn Club over the weekend: Cooper Doggett, Zane Wild, Tiahni Wild, Rhiannon Wild, Kadence Wild, Holly Doggett, William Barker, Ava Falk, Gemma Hollands, Alicia Hollands, Jaime Craig, Archer Shepherd, Jade Wehbe, Mary Hyland, William Hyland, Hannah Wehbe, Janice Barry, Jackson Schultz, Mackenzie Shepherd, Duke Shepherd and Emily Weston. Many achieved personal bests ranging from 0.4sec to a huge eight seconds.
Archer Shepherd flew through the water in his 100m breaststroke recording three seconds faster than the Country qualifying time. This was Archer’s first country qualifying time for the season and it reflects of his hard work at early morning squad sessions. While some swimmers didn’t achieve personal best times at the meet they did the best they could on the day. They did the club proud with their great support of each other with every swim. The officials from Swimming NSW were very welcomed with their input into the meet. Goulburn is very grateful to have been selected to host this event. The Country Championships are later this month at Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre and who swam here, will have the opportunity to compete there.
