The tour will combine the talents of country singer Troy Kemp and The Viper Creek Band, both bringing new and exciting music for the Goulburn crowd.
Country Music Channel (CMC) award winner Kemp had an unexpected love story with the genre – it began after he received advice during his time in the heavy metal scene.
“Someone said to me, when you’re not screaming you sound like a country singer,” Kemp laughed.
In the early 2000s his songs began transforming into country tunes before his eyes, and it didn’t take long before he was embroiled in the sound and narrative that makes country music so special.
“I fell in love with the genre and people,” he said. “The movement to country feels natural to me, it’s definitely where I’m going to stay.”
Kemp said he and The Viper Creek Band plan to bring the fun, guitar driven country songs people love.
“The Viper Creek Band have released a lot of good songs in the last couple of years… plenty of songs people know,” he said.
Kemp and lead singer of the band Damien Bagley, under the moniker Tailgate Drive, released the single Bury Me In Blue Jeans.
The pair placed in the CMC Top Ten and won best new talent at the CMC awards in March.
Months after, Kemp released his new single Beach Mode, which not only plays tribute to the modern progression of the genre, but his memories of playing guitar and surfing.
“Right now is an exciting time to be apart of country music… [the night] should be a lot of fun,” he said.
- The show will begin at 7pm on May 26 at the Workers Club.
