Anticipation is high as the Goulburn business community’s night of nights approaches.
Now in its fourth year, the Goulburn Australia Business Excellence Awards will be announced at a gala dinner on Saturday, August 11 at Mercure Goulburn.
Organising committee member Prue Martin said the gala dinner sold out over a month ago, with over 170 guests attending. “It’s really exciting,” she said. “The Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to showcase our business community and allow the public to have a say on the efforts put in by our local businesses.
“It’s a great night for the business community to come together and catch up with the locals.”
Eleven awards will be announced at the gala dinner, with two of those – Excellence in Customer Service and Apprentice/Trainee of the Year – local awards.
“Customer Service is always our greatest award in terms of nominations,” Mrs Martin said. “This year we’ve asked nominators why the person should win and that will be shown at the awards.”

The other nine categories are Young Entrepreneur, Excellence in Innovation, Excellence in Sustainability, Excellence in Small Business, Excellence in Business, Employer of Choice, Excellence in Social Enterprise, Business Leader and Start Up Superstar.
Winners of these nine categories will go on to compete in the regional business awards and if successful there, state awards. “We had different judges for different awards and it’s all independently done,” Mrs Martin said.
Member for Goulburn Pru Goward and Mayor Bob Kirk will be attending and presenting some of the awards.
Mrs Martin said the awards gala dinner had several platinum sponsors including Daniels Auto Group, Dream Admin Services, Studio 4 - Signs and Designs, JDY Electrical, Jigsaw Tax, Warrington Scott, Regional Development Australia and Goulburn Mulwaree Council, as well as a number of gold sponsors.
“Without them, the night wouldn’t be possible,” she said. “Having their involvement means we are able to thank our local business community and people will think twice before shopping out of town.”
