Warren who is a former member of the Royal Navy now living and employed in Sydney said he realised he was not doing so well with his mental health.
“I sought out professional help and am on leave without pay getting myself back from that dark place,” he said. “I decided to embark on a walk to the Canberra Memorial to raise awareness of men’s mental health and starting a conversation toward restoration. I am raising funds for R U OK through the Everyday Hero fundraising website.
“This means I don’t have to worry about handling the money and the funds go strait to the R U OK organisation which helped me recognise that I was not OK.”
Warren Arrived in Goulburn on dusk on Thursday, September 13, which was R U OK Day and was busy setting up his tent at the Governors Hill Caravan Park when I arrived.
He said he had made pretty good time but he was feeling the physical pain of the trek.
“My girlfriend, Alice Leemuis has been amazingly supportive. she is not travelling with me but shows up with extra supplies and encouragement,” he said.
He was aiming to be in Canberra on Saturday and hoping the public he met would add to the $5,300 he had already raised through the Everyday Hero page. All people have to do is look up the site http://give.everydayhero.com/au/headfirst300
