From November 26 to December 17, library members with overdue fines can trade one pantry item for up to $5 of late fines per card.
Library manager Erin Williams said following the Fine Feast food items would be donated to The Salvation Army for distribution as part of Christmas hampers given to those in need.
“We want everyone who is worried about their late fines to come back into the Library and get borrowing again,” Ms Williams said.
“By donating food for festive hampers you can get rid of your late fines and also help people in our community who might be having a hard time to have a more enjoyable holiday season”.
Suitable food items are non-perishable pantry items, in good condition, and in date until at least early 2019.
