The club's two year old feature race has had a long history, and since returning to the Goulburn's program of racing it has been won by some classy individuals. The roster includes the $1.6 million dollar earner Bling It On, and Scandalman who won over $500,000 for Sydney trainer Ian Wilson.
This season's two year old feature has drawn together a strong lineup, with the out of town horses Black Hawk Joe and Saint Emilion ready to lay down the challenge to local hopes Rockin With Elvis and Better Than Magic.
Trained by the Menangle based Rickie Alchin, Black Hawk Joe will be driven by premier driver Todd McCarthy and is expected to perform much better than when a debut fifth at Newcastle in late April.
On that occasion, the Roll With Joe youngster was hampered in the run and raced roughly before sprinting strongly in the home straight. His trial form either side of that run has been good and on the bigger Goulburn circuit is likely to prove hard to beat especially coming out of the two gate.
The Bathurst trained Saint Emilion is a three time winner from only six career starts, and while drawn wide in gate eight, the Steve Turnbull trained and driver pacer will be very hard to beat.
The Mach Three gelding is out of the former star mare Sheezallattitude, and during the recent Bathurst Gold Crown carnival captured a silver consolation in a good 1:57.9 mile rate.
A local Sapling Stake win rest with the Brad Hewitt trained and driven Rockin With Elvis. A son of Rock N Roll Heaven, the gelding was a winner on debut at Wagga, and followed that run with a couple of good efforts at Menangle in stronger company.
Rockin With Elvis has drawn gate three and is poised to take up a position with the leaders and appeals as a strong chance in what is an even Sapling Stakes field.
Racing tomorrow is scheduled to commence at 12.52 pm and with weather forecasts suggesting a continuation of perfect conditions, the club's committee invites all harness fans to come out and experience the wonderful facilities of the Grace Millson Centre. Enjoy quality food and a wide range of cold alcoholic and soft drinks while watching all the racing action in comfort.
