After many names were put forward and considered at the July 16 meeting of the Goulburn Mulwaree Council, it was finally decided that the new pavilion at Seiffert Oval will bear Ken Robson's name.

Robson, who was a stalwart of Goulburn cricket and served the club with dedication and dignity until his death in 2009, was confirmed by the council after an impassioned speech by Goulburn District Cricket Association president, Tim Price.
"I was initially unsure whether this address was necessary and considered that the submission I made on behalf of GDCA would be enough," Price said.
"In the end, I decided the best way forward was to know that we had done everything possible to state our case, hence I am here before you.
"The decision to do this in my eyes was vindicated upon reading the agenda for tonight's meeting, and the recommendation by the general manager, Mr Bennett, to simply name the pavilion 'Seiffert Pavilion'.
"In my eyes, this really is a soft option in terms of a name. I would in turn argue that it doesn't even meet the criteria set by council for naming of the pavilion."
The recommended name, according to mayor Bob Kirk's Mayoral Minute column in the Post on May 29, should "reflect a person that has contributed significantly to sport in the Goulburn Mulwaree area to any other name that the community are of the opinion should be used to reflect the importance of the new pavilion."
While all the nominees were worthy candidates, Price added, he and the association firmly believed that Robson was the most fitting for the pavilion.
Price's address clearly had an impact, and when the issue brought up for discussion among the councillors, Cr Peter Walker moved the motion to name the pavilion after Robson.
There were 17 nominees named in total - including Trevor Bayliss, Ray Harvey, Alfie Walker Sr., Jeff Prell, and John Burns - but in the end, council opted to go with Robson's name.
GDCA vice president, Bob Smith, said that the result was an "acknowledgement of the great work that Ken did" for the association.
"Ken was a fantastic worker for Goulburn. He was a player, he was a life member of the GDCA, he was a mentor to players and executives," Smith said.
"He was also very high up in country cricket, and we had a voice to country cricket through Ken. I'm very proud to say that I've advocated for [Ken's name to be on the pavilion] for some time."
The decision to back Robson's name for the pavilion was unanimously backed by the GDCA executives, Smith said.
"Amongst the association executive, particularly, it was unanimous," Smith said.
