"The purpose of the visit was to better understand the facility and program in Wollongong, to see whether it could be replicated in Goulburn," Project officer Camilla Staff said.
"IAccelerate have partnered with Bega Valley Innovation Hub. They are working closely with the new hub in Bega and helping them deliver their accelerator program to start-ups."
"Start-ups operating within the Bega Innovation Hub can also access and work in iAccelerate Wollongong and meet other like-minded people."
During the recent meeting of Goulburn Region Innovation Network (GRIN) forum, Liam O'Duibhir from Bega Valley Innovation Hub shared the journey of establishing the tech hub.
On setting up a similar hub in Goulburn, he said it would be a good forum to encourage unusual and unique businesses.
"GRIN hopes to be able to continue to work closely with iAccelerate to learn more about their program and bring something similar to Goulburn," she added.
During the visit, Miss Staff along with RDASI's Business Attraction and Development Manager Daryl Smith were shown around the building by Chris Peterslige, the Ecosystem Evangelist for iAccelerate.
The building was built in 2016 when $16.5million was secured from the state government's $100m Restart NSW Illawarra Infrastructure Fund.
It includes a workshop with 3D printers, co-workspaces, longer-term office spaces and breakout areas.
"We had the chance to meet one exciting startup startup Me3D which provides 3D printers for schools," Miss Staff said.
