Almost 6,300 livestock have been killed, euthanised or confirmed deceased in bushfires across NSW.
Over 5,000 head of livestock have reportedly been lost in south-east NSW since Christmas.
Once the conditions eased, NSW Department of Primary Industries and Local Land Services staff, working in 18 field teams, were able to access firegrounds on Monday.
Minister for Agriculture, Adam Marshall, said field crews were able to assess stock in the Cobargo, Bemboka, Wandella, Eurobodalla, Buckenbowra, Bombala, Exeter and Bundanoon areas.
"These fires have taken a huge toll on livestock, on farms and farm infrastructure," Mr Marshall said.
"Crews are currently working with contractors to help people assess and manage their remaining stock and to appropriately bury stock where required."
More than 2,350 animals are in care at animal safe places across the south-east of NSW.
In the wake of the crisis, the Goulburn Recreation Area remains has been open as animal evacuation centre for those threatened by the bushfires.
The animal evacuation centre currently houses animals like alpacas, goats, sheep and horses.
"The fires have been widespread and the impacts are certainly significant," Jamie Maddocks, Deputy Incident Controller for the Agricultural and Animal Services Functional Area (AASFA) Cooma Local Control Centre said.
"Access to those firegrounds and properties to assist landholders have been very difficult due to ongoing active fires, road closures and communication issues.
"We have field teams across south-east NSW area which will respond depending on access to that area."
They can seek assistance for livestock, destruction or disposal of fire-affected livestock, provision of livestock water where it has been taken for firefighting purposes, animal welfare implications have resulted, provision of emergency water and reporting of damage and fire impacts.
For those seeking emergency fodder for their livestock, they need to ring Agricultural and Animal Services Hotline on 1800 814 647 to register for assistance.
Fodder distribution points have recently been established at Moruya, Bega and Cooma to allow farmers to pick up emergency supplies.
Direct fodder deliveries have also been made under escort from the NSW Rural Fire Service.
