According to the show Top Speed, drifting is a driving technique where the rear slip angle of a car is greater than the front slip angle, and the front wheels are pointing in the opposite direction to the turn (e.g. the car is turning left while the wheels are pointed right), and the driver is controlling these factors.
Sounds scary, but fun.
Now, you too can experience drifting it for a good cause at an event called 'Spawn The Drift 5'.
This event will raise funds for the Marulan Rural Fire Brigade and is being held on Saturday, January 25 at the Pheasant Wood Circuit at Marulan.

Event organiser Louise Smith said drifting is a fantastic MotorSport that uses all of your driving skills to keep control of the car whilst driving it to its limits.
"It is great to watch and even more fun to take an adrenaline filled passenger ride," she said.
"These local firefighters have been working 24/7, fighting fires around Marulan and they actually stopped the fires from reaching the Marulan race track in the last few weeks.
"All monies raised from the gate entry will go directly to the Marulan Rural Fire Brigade who will be onsite with their Fire Trucks. Please come out and say thank you to them in person for their huge efforts."
"Come out and watch the Drift Cars. Some of the cars and drivers compete in the National Hi-Tec Oils Drift Competition like Flash Smith who will be driving the colourful S15. There is over 100 hours of graphic design on this car and it is worth a look."
The canteen is open all day and toilets are onsite.
