Diesel was born in Massachusetts, but emigrated to Australia when he was five and went on to become one of Australia's most celebrated guitarist-singers.
The 53-year-old is adding to his Sunset Suburbia Tour by also performing solo across the country to celebrate 30 years of success in the music industry and the release of his two Sunset Suburbia EPs.
He said suburbia had always held a strange fascination for him. "I remember designer cul-de-sacs strewn with shotgun shells in Chandler Arizona, the little vignettes of skateboarding around closed service stations on weekends in Perth, and some guy in the hot tub in his backyard where I'm riding my bike over the rail overpass in Sydney," Diesel said.
"I love going into where people live: the sights, the smells and the little repetitive things that make their world. It's kind of a bittersweet thing, but it's the stuff of life and it has a way of making songs."
Diesel will be playing new songs from the EP as well as classics such as Tip Of My Tongue, Come To Me and Soul Revival. So what can people expect?
"It's a diverse show to start with, maybe not what they would expect from one man onstage," Diesel said. "Over the course of doing so many solo shows, I've gotten bolder with what I may have imagined the limits were of someone doing a solo show when I started.
"It's evolved and keeps evolving, a luxury I have of having the freedom of one man on stage."
For a night to remember, head to the Astor Hotel on Friday, March 6 to - in the words of Diesel - "forget about everything in the world for a few hours".
"Come out and get off the couch. It's good to be alive and also good to congregate with others around music."
